Required Items:

  • VHEDIA head unit
  • Aftermarket amplifier/s
  • RCA Pre-out cables for speakers and 20-pin main harness for connecting the AMP remote-in (included in the package)
  • Wiring tools (if needed)

Steps:

1. Ensure Safety First:

  • Disconnect the Battery: Before beginning the installation, disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
  • Gather Tools and Components: Make sure you have all the necessary tools and components listed above.

2. Connecting the AMP Speakers

  • Speaker Pre-Out Cables: Connect the speaker pre-out cables from the head unit to the amplifier. These are typically colour-coded for Rear Right, Rear Left, Front Right, and Front Left. See the diagram above to determine where to plug the pre outs cable to the head unit.
  • Run RCA cables from the RCA pre-outs on the head unit to the corresponding RCA inputs on your aftermarket amplifier.
  • - FL to FL input
    - FR to FR input
    - RL to RL input
    - RR to RR input
4. Connecting the Subwoofer
  • Remote In Wire for SUB Woofer: Locate the Amp Con wire on your head unit's 20-pin main harness. This is the remote turn-on wire and is typically blue or blue & white.
  • Connect the Amp Con wire from the head unit to the remote turn-on input of the amplifier. This wire tells the amplifier to turn on when the head unit is powered on. You may remove or cut the blue wire to connect the remote-in trigger of the AMP.

  • If your amplifier has a single SUB RCA input, connect the SUB RCA output from the head unit to this input. (Green RCA)
  • If your amplifier requires two SUB RCA inputs (left and right), use an RCA Y splitter (see photo below) to connect the single SUB RCA output from the head unit to both SUB inputs on the amplifier.

5. Power and Ground Connections

  • Connect the power cable of the amplifiers to a suitable power source, usually the car's battery. Ensure you have a proper fuse inline for safety.
  • Connect the ground cable of the amplifier to a solid metal part of the car’s chassis to ensure a good ground connection.

6. Testing

  • Reconnect the Battery: Reconnect the vehicle’s battery.
  • Test the System: Turn on the head unit and test the system to ensure all speakers and subwoofers are working correctly. Check for any loose connections or issues.

7. Adjust Settings

  • Power on the head unit and the amplifier.
  • Adjust the gain and crossover settings on the amplifier as needed to ensure the best sound quality.
  • Use the head unit's audio settings to balance and fine-tune the output to your preference.

8.  Final Adjustments

  • Secure All Wires: Ensure all wires are properly secured and insulated to prevent any short circuits or damage.

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully connect and configure your aftermarket amplifiers with the VHEDIA head unit.
