This video explains how to manually configure steering wheel controls on a Vhedia G-series head unit when the vehicle does not use a CANBUS system.
Determining the System Type
- Vehicles without a CANBUS system often require hardwired steering wheel controls to be manually set on the unit.
- A primary indicator that a vehicle uses a CANBUS is the presence of a box connected to the main wiring harness. If this component is missing, the steering wheel controls likely require manual configuration.
Setting the Steering Wheel Controls
1. Navigate to the Settings menu and select General to find the Steering wheel option.
2. To program, tap a function on the screen, then press the corresponding button on the steering wheel.
3. Once all functions are mapped, tap Save to apply the settings.
4. If the controls do not register correctly, try using the Long setting option, as signal requirements can vary between different vehicles.
